| Lana Del Rey – Love Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| It's probably her happiest song so far. She seems happy and I guess the song is about acceptance. How sometimes life and love can make you go crazy and how we cope during those times might not seem right, but it doesn't matter because she was young and was in love. Though it made her go crazy or seem crazy because maybe she was. I really think she's in happy place now where she finally accepts it and not worrying for the future or anything that comes, or who she is now for that matter. Because she's still young and still in love. | |

| @[iheartthiswebsite:23343] I'd like to add that the video shows you how someone can appear happy and smiling or appear okay, but behind closed doors the mask is falling. That sometimes things are not what it looks on the surface. | |

| Avril Lavigne – Innocence Lyrics | 8 years ago |
|
I think it's about feeling happy at the point of your life especially if you've gone through turbulent times where not everyone would understand and feeling burdened or having a burden in your hearts that you can't even describe for quite a while. I wouldn't change a thing about it This is the best feeling This innocence is brilliant I hope that it will stay This moment is perfect Please don't go away Cos I need you now And I'll hold on to it Don't you let it pass you by The sentence "I need you now" is literal. I don't find it as having someone who makes you happy. rather the "you" in here is that feeling, the "innocence" that you hope won't go away. It's a state of bliss; you think you're dreaming It's the happiness inside that you're feeling It's so beautiful, it makes you wanna cry It's a state of bliss; you think you're dreaming It's the happiness inside that you're feeling It's so beautiful, it makes you wanna cry The verse reflects the moment where you finally realize that it's over and you think you're dreaming but you're not, you don't carry that burden anymore in your chest whatever that is. It's a song for anyone whether you have someone at your side or not. |

| Stevie Wonder – Overjoyed Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| I think it’s about someone’s finding their true love which at first the person was not so sure whether it’s being reciprocated or not. But in the end, the person is feeling overjoyed because the other person is actually feeling the same thing. | |
| Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
The Biblical words used in this song are all metaphors and symbolism. Plus, Leonard Cohen who originally wrote this song is a Buddhist, not a Christian. The other person doesn’t understand his/her passion in music and what she/he’s doing with his/her creativity. That’s why the line is there, “But you don’t really care for music, do you?”. It amuses the Lord (someone else) but the other person that the singer is talking to is not amused (or doesn’t understand). There were two events happening here, the minor fall and major lift describe the evolution of the person saying. Hallellujah means “Praise the Lord” in the religious sense. In here, it means the feeling of joy and appreciation. It tells a story about how he sees this woman that he desires and he gets weak in the knees with her. And the feeling of joy and appreciation begins (Hallelujah). The last verse is telling that he will do everything to be with her, even if it means getting rid of someone who gets in the way. He tells her that he’s been through she’s been through and that love is not always a victory march. It could make you feel cold, broken, and feel certain kind of sadness. Hallellujah to him comes from a place where it’s cold and broken. It’s a cry at night before you see the light. Music is how he expresses those feelings and connects with the divine. Music has a special kind of place in King David’s life and he has amused many with his talent. That’s what the “David” means in here. Words are great ways to communicate and music is a great way to speak to your soul. |

| Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová – Falling Slowly Lyrics | 9 years ago |

I'll combine my intepretation with the intepretation from @[musicness:16664]. I don't know you ~ I just met you. But I want you ~ but I like you a lot All the more for that ~ because for some reason I want to know all about you. Words fall through me and always fool me ~ I'm saying things I usually don't say to other people And I can't react ~ I'm not sure what to do And games that never amount to more than they're meant ~ I'm starting to play games to make you like me more. Will play themselves out ~ eventually I'll stop playing games when I know you want me. Take this sinking boat and point it home. We’ve still got time. He wants her to show him that she likes him too. Because of the games that he plays, the boat seems to be sinking. When you play games, your feelings get high and low depends on the other person’s reaction and you start to assume things or make conclusion through the games they play. Raise your hopeful voice, you have a choice: He wants her to say something and lets him know. So, they actually don’t talk to each other about their feelings and they’re sending signals through the games he plays which she plays along. You’ve made it now: He finds out that she likes him too. He finally cracked the code. Falling slowly, eyes that know me, And I can't go back ~ Falling in love with someone who just gets you and he doesn’t want it to go away. Moods that take me and erase me ~ I'm painted black – When you play games, your feelings get high and low depends on the other person’s reaction and you start to assume things or make conclusion through the signals you get. You have suffered enough – And warred with yourself He finds out things about her and she’s been through some tough relationships and battling with herself. It’s time that you won He’s actually saying to her that since she’s decided to be with him now, he won’t let what happened to her to happen again. Take this sinking boat and point it home ~ Let's make a home together. We've still got time ~ We have time to do all the things we want to do together. Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice - Say yes, but it is ok if you say no. You've made it now ~ You've made the decision to love me. Falling slowly sing your melody ~ You lead the way I'll sing along ~ I'll follow In the original version, there’s a line: “I played the cards too late, now you’re gone”: (The meaning would be different with that line.) In the cover version, they removed that line in the end (which I prefer) and that’s what this song means. |

| Sarah McLachlan – Adia Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
My interpretation: It’s a very deep song if you listen to it and I’ve cried many times listening to this one. Sarah is actually talking to herself in this song. Adia is Sarah and we all have “Adia” inside of us. Sarah felt that she has failed herself. She tried to love “Adia” in her own ways but she found out that it’s actually not the right way. She’s asking “Adia” to forget about it, let it go and forgive herself. This is actually a song when you’re trying to reconnect with yourself when you lose yourself. She tried to find herself in everything and everyone up to no avail. So, in order to figure things out, she actually had to talk to herself. She’s feeling the responsibility for everyone (Sarah’s dad) and everything happened, but Sarah’s trying to talk to “Adia” that you don’t have to keep beating yourself for what has happened. You don’t have to be so hard on yourself. She couldn’t change how “Adia” feels for what has happened, but she she’ll try to take away her pain and will be there for “Adia” when she needs her. She’s asking “Adia” to forgive her, trusts her and lets her in. Things were meant to happen for something better. We all make mistakes and we all falter, but in the end does it matter? |

| The Cranberries – Animal Instinct Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| The video is heartbreaking and it always touches me every time I see this. I think the song "Animal Instinct" fits not just for the relationship between mother and the kids. It could also be the struggle of someone to protect themselves or someone they love. | |
| Craig David – Walking Away Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
My interpretation: This song doesn't mean walking away from all of your troubles in your life, but you're walking away from someone who throws negativity at you, someone who puts you through bad things, someone who do mean things to you, someone who won't compromise. You just walk away from this person. You just completely ignore this person. Who doesn't get tired being thrown at negativity every single time? Who doesn't get tired after trying to compromise and sort things out, they still don't get it that it's annoying? It's very humane to just walk away from negativity. |

| Natalie Imbruglia – Counting Down The Days Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
Natalie wrote this for Daniel Johns from Silverchair when they had to go through long distance relationships. Sometimes it's hard to keep a relationship where one is in Australia and another is in England. This song is basically what she felt when she was apart from him. She missed him a lot but she's doing what she could until she meets him again (I wanna travel through time). Natalie is a very melancholic person and how and what she writes in this song clearly describes what someones feels when someone is going through the same thing. It's a very honest feeling and I admire her for that. |

| Gabrielle – Sunshine Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
It could be anyone. She's saying that this person gives her a new meaning in her life, supports her in her dream, inspires her, opens her up to new things, and is there for her. She's learnt a lot from her experiences on how to help her live her life, but no one could show her better than this person. It's like this person knows how to get through her and is capable of doing things that no one could which is why I think is magical. The chorus is very straightforward. This person basically makes her happy. If I take a look at the video, this person takes her from "here" to "there", from "down here" to "up here", which is why she's singing at the rooftop, which is the new heights for her. And this person is like a new air that breathes a new kind of hope in her life. . |

| Tori Amos – Sleeps With Butterflies Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
She's saying how sometimes people come and go (airplanes take you away again), but she's not afraid to dive in. It's not that she's not afraid. She's afraid with the pins and needles it will cause her, but she'll take the risk. At the same time, she'll let him fly and let his colors shine. And if he does come back, she'll let him. And if he goes, she'll let him go. (you say the word you know i will find you or if you need some time i don't mind. i don't hold onto the tail of your kite). And I think that's the whole point of what this song is teaching us. Love is not about control. The right one always comes back. We can get along together on this ride (carousel) or we'll go our own ways. It could take them anywhere they want to or it won't and that's the beauty of the unknown, because as it says at the beginning of this song, it implies that "nothing lasts forever". But the downside of this song is this girl always falls for the wrong person. From a girl's perspective, if he comes and go as he pleases, we can easily make a conclusion that he has commitment problems or has someone else. The good thing of this song is that she's saying "i believe i'm worth coming home to", she knows her worth that's why she won't stop him from "flying" off somewhere. |

| The Paper Kites – Bloom Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
If you watch the video, it looks different than my interpretation of the song which is the feeling you have when you're in love with someone. The video tells you how the thread much like the invisible thread in life that connects and leads you to meet your destiny. And that's what I get coming to the end of the video. It's about meeting your destiny. The tree at the end of the video relates to the title of song "Bloom". From their union, the tree will grow and produce something fruitful in their life. The tree is symbol for their life together. Tree of life. So, I think the video shows you more about the meaning of this song. |
|
| Sia – Elastic Heart Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
What I love about Sia is that her video always tells the meaning of her song. Elastic Heart is a song about someone who's trying to make peace with her past. It's a continuation of her song "Chandelier. If you watch the video, the cage is a symbol for depression, the state of her mind in "Chandelier" when she ran to alcohol as an escape from what's going on in her life at that time. What's going on inside the cage is the battle she's trying to make peace with (the past). Two possibilities: 1. Maddie is the younger Sia and she uses "Shia Le Bouf" in the video as a mature version of her as his name resembles her name. Sia = Shia... So, I completely disagree when people judged her that her video relates to someone who's pedophile. The video is not about it. Anyway, so she's trying to make peace with her younger self for what has happened in the past (most likely her relationship with her dad) and it seems like a battle everyday and it seems impossible (the cage). But in the end, she finally did it. So in here, it's about someone who's fighting with her inner self, like an inner conflict. 2. What happens in the cage is telling a story of her relationship with her dad. So, Maddie is the younger Sia and Shia is her dad. And they're trying to make peace without weapons but it seems impossible for her because she's saying in her lyrics that he's hurting her and she's been fighting all of her life to make peace with it, but he doesn't seem to understand what's going on with her. . |

| Jay-Z – Holy Grail Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
"And baby It's amazing I'm in this maze with you I just can't crack your code One day you screaming you love me loud The next day you're so cold One day you here, one day you there One day you care, you're so unfair Sipping from the cup 'till it runneth over, Holy Grail." I read that Justin wrote this for Jessica Biel. Holy Grail means something that you cannot get. He's basically saying that she's acting very indifferent to him. She's like puzzle to him because she's acting very confusing and it almost seems like there's no chance between them. He's trying to find out what it is. It drives him insane but no matter what she does to him, he loves her anyway. I think he's madly in love with her and she's not playing games at all. So, Jessica (if it's true that he wrote this for her) is the "Holy Grail" in this song. |
