Florence + the Machine – Never Let Me Go Lyrics 9 years ago

I completely agree that this is about Virginia Woolf's drowning. Excellent interpretation by far.

As someone battling depression, I completely understand how it gets worse as we get older. The thoughts and emotions that engulf our minds are so overpowering at times that being able to pull yourself out of it becomes more difficult through age. It not only takes it's toll on the person suffering from depression but it also consumes their loved ones. They too are struggling to help you through those extremely rough times. Not everyone responds well to anti-depressant medications so it is an ongoing battle. The guilt we feel for our illness consuming our loved ones lives is overwhelming.

I feel as though the lyrics not only express what it must have felt like while drowning but also the emotions she felt before she took her life. You do feel at times as if you are drowning in a sea of depression.

Thanks for sharing your amazing interpretation of the lyrics.
