I always thought this song was about a street prostitute walking to get to the "meat market" (another term for a brothel) or around it where her pimp is. She has no business and is struggling. "But the cars don't stop." Usually for street prostitutes, a car will stop and offer you in. "An addiction to hands and feet." She describes her addiction to sex. "Now I'm getting touched all the time..." How often she is getting "touched", i.e. having sex, may be an allusion to her job. |

This is a wonderful feminist anthem about the likes of a woman who feels threatened by rape and womanhood. She describes her "period" and says she has to "take care of it" to higlight the inconvienince. She outlines how she has "mace and pepper spray" to fend off any rapist and "shoes that run faster than any rapist rapes", just in case she is one time attacked. And she wants "chemical castrations" to avoid the idea of getting pregnant to her rapist. |

| Goldfrapp – Strict Machine Lyrics | 9 years ago |

I don't think this song is about lab rats. I've been thinking about it and I think it's got something to do with a gambling addiction and her love to the gambling machine. She describes a "rush" and a "buzz," classic symptoms of addiction. "I'm in love with a strict MACHINE" Gambling machines are strict, because you place bets and often lose. I also sometimes think it's about a vibrator as she mentions a "pulse". In the end I think it's about the love for the gambling machine. |
