| AURORA – Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I think there is no methaphore hidden in this song, and that's the beautiful thing about it. When I listen to it I just imagine a man shooting his... daughter maybe? Because he feels the world is too ugly and he doesn't want her to suffer, but then he regrets doing it and cries because she's gone. I think you could sum up the story with the lines "he did it all to spare me from the awful things in life that comes and he cries and cries" |

I think everyone can agree on the fact that this is an easy interpretation. Basically Hayley (and the whole band) have gone through some rough times, and by the time they wrote the song, they still were kinda suffering, so they're singing about how hard it is to live in those hard times, even if you're rich and famous (as she says in the line "these lives, and i still don't know how I even survive"), and how it will take a while but you will get over it (as in the lines "and now I gotta hit rock bottom" and the bridge "tell my friends I'm coming down, we'll kick it when I hit the ground" as a methaphore of waiting for those hard times to pass). |

| CHVRCHES – Recover Lyrics | 9 years ago |

Okay so as everyone says, this is my interpretation of the song and maybe it's the wrong one but this is what I got: "" Caught out cold, cold Hiding from you in this skin So, old I'll come, clean Everyone-everyone knows It's, me "" I think in this one the singer has been in a bad place for a long time, hiding from the person they love and they're hoping that one day they'll be happy so everyone sees the real them. "" And if I recover Will you be my comfort? Or it can be over Or we can just leave it here So pick any number Choose any color I've got the answer Open the envelope "" What they're saying is "If I ever get to be in a happy place will you bare with me to stay like that? Because if not, you better leave now." And when she's saying "pick any number, color, I've got the answer" I think she's thinking "okay, I know which are the decisions you have to make in order to make me happy, so you choose (as in, what kind of life they want to live, for example) and then I'll tell you what my decisions were, to see if we match or not" "" I'll give you one more chance To say we can change or part ways And you take what you need And you don't need me "" Again, she's giving them a chance to choose. I think the singer believes that this person doesn't REALLY love her, that's why she's insisting. "" Blow by blow Honest in every way I know You appear To face a decision I know you fear "" She talks about how she's honest about everything and now her partner has to be honest and tell her if they really love them and want to stay or not. So generally speaking, I think the song is about this girl who has been through some tough times and she really needs someone but she's afraid this person will only stay with her because they feel bad leaving her, but she's telling them it's okay, she's being herself now, trying to do the right things and being happy. |
