"Shake hands" has to do with being in agreement, of course, but I also wonder if he chose this to address the classic -stop and shake hands with your neighbor- bit at church. By doing this action at church, he is agreeing with their views. As he denies the thought he just made, by denying his piercing question, he fits in with the masses. |
