| When I first listened to this album I put it on shuffle on my phone as I was cleaning my house. When this song came on I thought it was so beautiful, you know, until I actually listened to it. And then I thought it was hysterical. I'm not kidding, I seriously busted out laughing as I was folding some blankets! I just think it's an absolutely brilliant way of telling such a story. I mean, the IRONY of it all, the fact that they have the instrumentals sound so romantic and graceful, and have the story about break up sex. WOW! And, just to add, BOTH of our two main protagonists (the man and the woman) just seem to be bad people. And Stars made it work! Gosh I love this song! | |

Okay, so I know no one has posted on this song, but I just have to say that this is one of my absolute FAVORITE stars songs. It's just so relatable and it makes me think of this specific point in my life. So I used to have a crush on this guy, let's call him Bob (generic name lol XD) and he was probably the first boy I ever really liked, and the thing is, he liked me back. We would sit next to each other in class and talk about what we did in our spare time and stuff. So when the school year ended I looked forward to going back to school the entire summer so I could see him again. When the school year started up again, he started to ignore me. It wasn't anything too serious, but it just wasn't what it used to be like hanging out with him. He became really popular and started spending less time with me and more time with all the other girls in our school that were all wayyy more popular. Can't say I blame him, school is like that, but I'm not saying that what he did was necessarily right. Anyway, I've moved on and gotten over him, but I've noticed a pattern. Bob seems to make a girl - he's done this several times - think that he likes her, therefore making her like him. "And you have a gift for making people love you." And then, when he's had his fun teasing her and such, he ignores her and makes her think that it's all her fault that he doesn't like her anymore. I've talked to one of my close friends about this and she agrees. But the reason this song reminds me of Bob is because one day he'll have broken enough hearts for everyone to realize what he's done. "Now you're a stranger, now it feels better, it feels better and better, until you feel nothing at all." Then he'll know what it's like to be "The Stranger" and he'll feel the loneliness that he's caused all these people to feel. |
