@[Celv999:15713] annie clark is dating a women (cara delevinge). she has also mentioned that she doesn't necessarily consider herself female, doesn't think about her gender much, and believes in gender fluidity. she's also said about the song "Prince Johnny" “Prince Johnny” and gender identity: “It’s unpacking some of what it means to be a ‘real girl’ and a 'real boy.' We get handed down these ideas of gender and sexuality: You’re supposed to be this or that. What happens if you float around the cracks and don’t fit into these narrowly prescribed things?” so it's very possible that this is about not fitting into the box of cisgender/heterosexual in a conservative town. |

| St. Vincent – Save Me From What I Want Lyrics | 9 years ago |

I agree that the lyrics are "Keys are in my pocket They rattle you awake Seventh floor apartment And a fire escape." in the comments it seems people either think this is about a wife cheating or a husband cheating- i think it's about both, or a marriage/relationship where both spouses are unhappy and hiding things from their spouse. The first line and "save me from what I want" implies she's the one doing something wrong, and the 8th and 9th lines imply that her spouse is the one doing something wrong. I think this song is about the events leading up to a fight, or the end of the relationship. The first line implies she's sneaking in the apartment, and wakes up her husband. The husband gets mad, but she knows that he's in the wrong, too. Genius song. |
