Despite everyone's great analysis' of this song, it has come straight from Maynard James Keenan's mouth that this song has no actual meaning. This is one of very few tool songs that they wrote backward to their usual style of writing, being that the guitar, bass and drums were written before Maynard wrote the lyrics. So it actually has no meaning, he just wrote some lyrics that make sense together and sounded good with the instrumental |
