Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics 9 years ago
As with all great art and much great music and lyrics, and in particular with such of Pink Floyd and Roger Waters and the like, it gives food for thought. And it touches into our deeper intellect and allows us to see an artist's irony in what otherwise could be viewed without any interpretation at all if you were numb enough. I personally see this specific song as a critic to all of us, who all spend most of our lives in selfish masturbation for the highest possible self-comfort, and by doing so becomes so comfortable that we are numb to anything or anyone else around us - where the term "I" can be used on both an individual level, as small group of society, an entire village, an ethnic sector, a religious sect, or even a nation or part of the world called "the western world" - thanks to stimuli like materialism, the free market, the never ending status hunting, the soap operas, the Hollywood movie industry, and the capitalists playing with their own and all our minds for the goal to become the richest possible and hence 'happiest' man or woman around.

I feel the same as singer6700: "Telling people to listen and produce their own meanings is brilliant." That is how I feel about real art; it doesn't produce one correct answer but gives the viewer a possibility to reflect and possible mature or question one or more magical sides of Life
