| Gorillaz – Saturnz Barz Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I personally reckon that this song is likely to do with the growing effect of money on love and lifestyle, talking about how the person with debts is risking their money in the "Stakin' bar" whilst better off people (Saturn being the metaphor) can just live their lives with ease whilst other people in the world are suffering. Also, Popcaan expresses this by talking about (unlikely to be real) dreams of poorer people that want cars and bikes as well as lovers and popularity. If my view on the song is correct, then I think it fits in well with the anti Trump (oligarchy) argument that is discussed in various songs in the album (hallelujah money, let me out etc) I dunno though and remain uncertain about the other lyrical meaning in the song. What are your thoughts? Thanks. |

The monkey is obviously an inactive volcano and the strange folk come to mine in it and secretly ruin the happy folks lives... The result- they awaken it. They kill themselves with greed and also the happy folk are killed. Harm nature and it will harm you- this song is about greed. Every song in the album (or by the gorillaz anyway) tends to have a moral meaning similar to this. |
