This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It is one of the few tunes that I never got tired of. Like so many of the best New Wave songs, this song is about lost love. My Interpretation Line By Line: A man in my shoes runs a light ( a guy like him is breaking the rules to win this girls heart) and all the papers lied tonight, but falling over you is the news of the day. (no matter what anyone else thinks or says, he wants only her) Angels fall like rain and love is all of heaven away. (There are so many beautiful women out there, but love is hard to find and he only wants her) Inside you the time moves and she don't fade. The ghost in you she don't fade. (Time has gone by, but there is the one girl he can never forget) Background Lyrics During the Above Line: Drums beat time in you and I and rain don't fall down here no more. It's coming down to losing it in you. (Time has passed and no other girl could ever compare to her and it's driving him crazy) A race is on, I'm on your side and hearing you my engines die. (He's been looking for love, but he hopes that she will come around to choose him, but she reminds him in some way that it's not him that she chooses and it kills him) I'm in a mood for you, for running away. (He'll always want her even though she didn't choose him and it makes him want her more) Stars come down in you. (No matter what she does she seems wonderful) And love, you can't give it away. (He's having a hard time finding someone to make him forget her, and she won't have him even though she knows he wants her) Don't you go, it makes no sense when all your talking supermen just take away the time and get in the way. (He can't understand why she left him and now she's seeing others) Ain't it just like rain, and love is only heaven away. (She and others find love, but for him love has always escaped him and it's basically because he can't forget her) |
