I've listened to this song on repeat for the last 24 hours. I don't think it's a woman he's talking about. I think he's talking about an addiction. It sounds like whomever has tried to get help and yet...can't shake the need for whatever this addiction. "I can't believe my sanity lies in abandoning you" how many addicts swear they aren't addicts because they still have it "together" or it hasn't affected them the way it has other people but the fact it is, it's still affecting him and he has to make a decision. Most people turn to an addiction to bury problems...the graveyard? buried problems? And believe it or not, most addicts find no pleasure in their addiction...they find relief....and they cling to that....when he asks will he be able to cling to something else other than this addiction? And most addicts are sickened by their addiction, disgusted something has that kind of grip. It's a hell of a song. |
