This song would be a perfect fit for a heist film. The ticking stopwatch, the deep bass, the distorted wah-wah guitar. There are so many things you could set this to! |

I think this song is about someone's relationship with a prostitute. They are always happy to come over for another session, but like all lovers (especially in this line of work), they are "born to suffer" and must make the most of what they're given. |

This song is beautiful, and only Dave Gahan could have done it right. It conjures images of a metropolitan city at night, being all alone with the lights of nearby windows. It's somber, but at the same time, romantic. There's nothing quite like it. |

Perhaps this song is about finding out that there is more to your neighborhood than meets the eye. |

I think it's about an obsessed fan stalking a celebrity. Wanting to know everything about them after initially dismissing them as irrelevant ("I thought I pegged you an idiot's dream"). The celebrity knows what the fans want ("You wore our expectations like an armored suit") but this particular fan won't go away ("Don't fuck with me"). "Frequency" could very well be referring to radio or television broadcasts. |

Similar to "Near Wild Heaven", I think this song is about a "free love" society where everyone is allowed to express themselves without the fear of backlash or censorship. To this extent, many of them are wearing ear tunnels, navel piercings, and other "rebellious" jewelry ("Gold and silver shine"). |

I think this song is about someone who betrayed his friends, and is now facing the consequences for doing so ("Overwhelmed you chose to run"). He decides to make matters worse by justifying his betrayal ("Watched your fears become your god") while his friends try to convince him that they would never do the same ("No one plans to take the path that brings you lower"). |
