David Bowie – Sorrow Lyrics 4 years ago
The original "Sorrow" was recorded by The McCoys, of "Hang on Sloopy" fame, as a B side to another single. It was THEN re-recorded by the Merseys (formerly the Merseybeats) and became a big hit for them in the UK. Then, David Bowie covered it. For my money, Bowie's version is unquestionably the best one. And none of these artists wrote the song. Also, Harrison quoted the song; no one lifted the line from him.

Walk the Moon – Shut Up and Dance Lyrics 6 years ago
Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me.
I said your holding back,
She said shut up and dance with me!
This woman is my destiny
She said oh oh oh
Shut up and dance with me

I think it's actually the aftermath of an argument. He wants to reflect on what caused it; she wants to forget it and move forward.

Todd Rundgren – I Saw The Light Lyrics 8 years ago
@[bartel:22170] I don't know about an homage, but "I Saw the Light" is clearly influenced by Carole King. Funnily enough, I'd MUCH rather listen to Todd Rundgren do Carole King than Carole King. :-)

@[KingRex:22168] He wrote it in 20 minutes, I've heard. I find it hard to believe that he had no emotional investment in the song. Not doubting your word - it's just that he performs it like a man who's been blindsided by love. It's a perfect pop song, perfectly performed, and my absolute favorite song.

@[MeanLookstheIII:15311] I agree! This is a wildly romantic song. And the music is so bouncy, yet the lyrics are tinged with sadness. I love it.
