I definitely feel this song is about one-way love. "Hope I didn't speak too soon.." meaning there's some fear that expressing their true feelings may in fact be taken the wrong way and make matters worse. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4Uz1nZPPBI To me, this is my favourite version of this song. Noel puts so much emotion into it. This version speaks to me more than the studio version. I feel this song is about someone loving another person and the receiving person for whatever reason simply doesn't feel the same or won't accept it, despite the loving person put their heart and leaving themselves emotionally vulnerable. "My today fell in the from the top" I believe means their (the lover) life is dark, cold and full of struggle and that "Dream of you and all the things you say, I wonder where you are now" means the receiving person pushed said lover away due to not feeling the same, and needing space. "Let me be the one shines with you" I think is a way of almost begging the person to give you a chance in hopes they can better each others life. "In the morning, we won't know what do" yeah, you never know how it'll work out but who really does? Relationships, like life are a journey and you have to figure them out along the way. I believe the ending chorus (song by Noel) "Don't know, don't care, all I know is you can take me there" is a last ditch effort to get the receiving person to simply accept you and give you a chance. This is all my interpretation of course and probably completely wrong but it's how I feel. Currently this song means so much to me because I'm madly in love with a girl who makes me feel safe, calm, happy and is amazing but I can't have her and it hurts me so much. I feel she's slowly pushing me away and I can't blame her but it hurts. |
