The beginning is the “end” of the relationship. They are in that limbo of not together but not yet fully apart. Maybe she wanted to stay together. The “ghost” being that he’s still around. Then letters, the other guy, that’s the phase of trying to move on. The last part makes it obvious that he is explaining how he doesn’t want to be together and she just broken hearted. I honestly see this as a woman who is weak to a man and in a controlling relationship. She wants to move on because she knows it's best for her. "I don't want to fall another moment into your gravity". She's done, but as is with most controlling relationships she thinks he loves her and she wants to be loved. "You're neither friend nor foe" she's not happy. "The one thing I still know is that you're keeping me down" she is confused between her gut and him telling her how she feels, and she can't be free.. She wants to fly away, but she's trapped. I think this is a very sad song. |
