Why? – A Sky for Shoeing Horses Under Lyrics 9 years ago
My mind was blown when I noticed this, but the cover photo of this album is also the name of this song, look at it! That looks like a bunch of horses literally shoe-ed by sky.

But lets look at the metaphor of the chorus, Sky=destiny, Horses=strong, tough people, Shoeing=taming, breaking, submitting.

So basically what's he saying is that no matter how strong someone is in pursuing his dream, if he is unlucky, he'll get trampled, such is destiny and life, it's not fair.

Kinda like how a king will fall to pawns, once problems build up you will break (get shoe-ed under), this is why he only played chess once in his life, he lost to destiny and now he can't play it anymore (he can't pursue his dream) because he was tamed, and once you are got your horseshoe, you can never go back.

Well yeah, I'm reading way to much into this but I just want to say that the line "I only played chess once in my life and I lost" is pure genius.

Why? – Good Friday Lyrics 9 years ago
Chorus basically claims that he is laughing at himself failing. the rest of the lyrics are small glimpses of nostalgic memories and descriptions, which Why is really good at, just listen to their song For Someone. Clearly it's about depression. Honestly, I don't know any other rapper or for that matter a band, that have such genius lyrics as these songs. OK, maybe 21 Pilots, hah just kidding, they are polar opposites.
