Marilyn Manson – The Death Song Lyrics 1 year ago
In the simplest of terms, I suspect this song is both an acknowledgement (but of course) of religious toxicity in modern culture, as well as a metaphor for how this culture itself is sort of a sham, and it sort of posits that if there was a god, “even he’d like to end it too”. This is basically a song to me that states “there’s too much bullshit” (which seems to be popular with Mr. Manson here). It seems like a commentary on modern culture that utilizes religion as its scapegoat, as it always does. Religion is an invention of psychopaths and tagalong narcissists who want an easy out.

Summoning – Land of the Dead Lyrics 5 years ago
@[darren1142:33395] What a perfect interpretation of this song! While I often think in deep metaphor, for some reason this interpretation had eluded me. I guess because it is such an intrinsically emotional song to me. For some reason, it is the only one that affects me so deeply. Particularly with the lines, "Upon the plain, there rushed forth and high
Shadows at the end of night and mirrored in the sky
Far far away beyond might of day
And there lay the land of the dead of mortal cold decay". This melody haunts me, as a melody that I remember from somewhere distant and ancient. I feel that it is somehow home, and I am returning somewhere, to a place beyond dreams, beyond illusion. Somewhere that I have somehow always known.
