Bob Dylan – My Back Pages Lyrics 9 years ago
I'm I the only one who has a problem with the "equality in school" thing?

It's of course true that liberty is more than school equality. And yes, there was no shortage of self-righteous, self-ordained professors running around back then (not to mention now).

But there were many brave people who put there lives on the line for the right to be treated as an equal, in schools and elsewhere. And not a few who died.

Bob Dylan – Only a Pawn in Their Game Lyrics 9 years ago
@[MrMojoRisin5552:14835] On the other hand:

Yes, it's true that poor whites were a pawn in a larger game.

But were they *only* pawns?

Was it pre-ordained that the would hate and kill? Did they not ultimately have personal responsibility for their actions?

While the song lays bare the manipulation and social conditioning of the Old South, I've always felt there was at least a touch of irony in the repeated invocation of "*only* a pawn in their game".
