It's about a relationship he had with a girl. Sometimes his memory of when they were together feels good; more often he's depressed about its ending. His depression reveals itself in how things have become routine. ("Oh, the night, here it comes again. It's on with the jeans, the jacket and a shirt.") This routine is made sinister by the later revelation that he's getting dressed to go out to bars—where he will abuse alcohol. ("Raise my glass 'cause either way I'm dead. Neither of you really help me to sleep anymore. One breaks my body and the other breaks my soul"). At the same time, life goes on for everyone else.
