I find this song heartbreaking. I interpret the woman to be mourning the coming loss of her relationship with her boyfriend. She's recognized that she's maturing at a faster pace than he is and she wants to start planning her future. She sees he's just not there yet and that their lives are no longer in sync. The breakup is inevitable and she's in pain when she realizes this. |
