I believe this song is about a drifter who one night on the trail found someone and began roaming with this fellow drifter over there travels they developed a close friendship and judging by the line "you spoke my language and touched my limbs" maybe even a physical relationship and that they may be in a foreign land and after a while the singer gets home sick and returns home to settle down but there friend had different dreams to chase so they split up. years later once the singer is settled down and with someone else they remember the fellow drifter and start dreaming about what could have been if they stayed with them (sorry if this is hard to read writing is not my strong suit) |
