| Emmylou Harris – Hickory Wind (Gram Parsons cover) Lyrics | 9 years ago |
If you haven't yet taken a sip of the sweet wine and honey of Emmy Lou Harris' beautiful song writer interpretations, the many other ones she's written and co-written, and a signature whispering voice that's all her own, you need to - if for no other reason than to have a well informed musical palate and knowledge base. In the beginning, I found Emmy Lou's musical style, genre, and voice to be an acquired taste. By hanging in there with continued listening and CD purchases beginning with her teaming up with Mark Knopfler in "All the Road Running," I have since become intoxicated with her inner and outer beauty, songwriting, and voice where I can't get enough, whether old or new, including her early appearances on Gram Parson's albums. |

| Todd Rundgren – I Don't Want To Tie You Down Lyrics | 9 years ago |
There's so much I could say about this beautiful love song. It's probably easily overlooked or lost in Todd Rundgren's huge canon of albums and compositions because it's wrapped within a continuous song stream - Side 2 Abbey Road-like - in his ambitious and complex album, "A Wizard, A True Star," one song blending into another with the concluding rock anthem, "Just One Victory". Those who know and appreciate this album do so for its equally perplexing mixture of rock and pop music styles, musical themes, and lyrics that are sometimes lovely, other times satirical, and often vulgar. Nonetheless, whatever your opinion of "A Wizard, A True Star," treasure this gem, take it home with you gift wrapped, and play it for your one and only. Better yet, serenade it to her as tears well up in your eyes, and then tell her "I love you." |

| Sting – Show Some Respect Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Powerful and inspiring track - the entire "Last Ship" (Deluxe Edition) is an amazing theatrical rendering of England's dying shipyard industry and how its varied players try to find Love and meaning in what seems a trapped and hopeless existence. Though it seems that the legacy of the many generations of who struggle to make a living in an imaginably difficult profession is a dark and gloomy one, Love and the human Spirit ultimately makes the courageous choice to prevail in spite of circumstances it has no control over. This is beautifully captured in the closing anthem of unity, brotherhood, and defiance "Show Some Respect." |
