Song Makes me think of a relationship between a man and someone younger then him. They shouldn't be together and because of how it's so looked down upon from everyone else they have to keep it hidden and can not see each other as much as they want to. And the moment you thought you were safe turns out the story doesn't end there. The person hides you away lies to everyone plays games and becomes a two-faced asshole. And when shit get real the person leaves and leaves you in flames. Everything thing reminds you of that person that you start to hear his name in the rain. The pain burns you like a giant fire pit. It becomes not only pain but rage heartbreak hot boiling anger. Fire-Anger you want to throw at the one person who did you wrong so fucking badly. Make them pay for the pain they're making you go through. But you can't do anything but set fire to the rain. |

Last relationship I was he was almost 3 years older I met him as a freshmen while he was a senior my parents didn't approve so after a year of trying to hide it they broke us up. He moved on. I didn't. People gave me shit at school for dating someone older, and I feel stupid for doing so, I was holding him back from a lot of stuff, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't happy with me as I was with him. |

I don't really think of a break up when I think about this song. I think of a very hard point in a relationship. He's trying to figure out how to fix it and she's ready to leave because she thinks its worthless but both are willing to give it another shot.

Everytime I listen to this song I start to cry. This is one of my all time favorite songs. When I think about this song I think about a long distance relationship not just with a musician but with everyone in general. Those long distance relationships strain love on most people to the point you drift apart and the pain of being apart from each other is never ending to the point you cry every night because you miss your significant other and wonder if they think of you or hell!- if they still love you, and if they're as faithful as you are. It takes a hell of a lot of strength, dedication, trust and a lot of faithfulness and commitment to make a long distance relationship work, love will never be enough you have to be willing to fight. and most of the time.. People won't because they think it's worthless. It's sad to think people aren't willing to fight for love most of the time. |

When I think of this song, I think of love. I think the message is to feel love like it was made for us as he keeps repeating through out the song. Who's there to take your love, to make the love(love in general, not sex) who can you trust-who won't lie and stab your back?, who's the right friend( a true friend), are you at the right place and with the right faces? and most inportantly can you, yourself feel love? Other than that this is a great song the choir is a little creepy when they start singing were going down. But I think it's awesome he's kind of reprising the song all the right moves. The songs in the album in general I think they're really giving you the intention to wake up (name of the album) and question yourself and see life from a different perspective which is something I love about one republic. They have like a spirituality in their music, not religious spiritual just soul searching type of spiritual. |

I believe this song is about bein. Different from everyone else and feeling left out. And it seems you're left out and nobody cares what you think or do and because of that you want to be left alone to deal with your own demons, but at the same time you have to embrace your differences and love what makes you unique from the whole world and at the last verse "don't leave me alone" well it's self explanatory you don't want to be alone and you don't and shouldn't be pushing others away because of your inner demons. |

I haven't seen the video to this song. But when I think about it, I think about two people falling in love. Something happens to their love it's fading away or growing more toxic or its interrupted by something or someone. The boy isn't willing to wait for the girl and isn't willing to fight thinking that the best thing to do is to move on. The girl doesn't want to, she wants to keep fighting but the boy isn't willing and wants to move on, the girl is needlessly pleading the boy to stay and is emotionally beating herself on as the boy is leaving her and she's still holding on, hoping that he'll stay and fight for her. Which he won't, and as proof to see if what he wants is true the girl wants him to tell her he doesn't love her anymore. It's all I got lol |
