Will Young – Who Am I Lyrics 9 years ago
This is the song that made me fell in love with Young's music. This song is different from any love ballad that I've listened to before, because it reveals such a painful truth about love that has caused lots of people so many doubts, distrust and miserable endings: we just simply can't devote all of us to our loved ones because we live for ourseleves after all.

"Sometimes you know you push me so hard I don't know how I feel" describes a man who is already tired of his girl/boyfriend's will-you-give-me-all-of-you kind of questions. He just doesn't know how to answer.

"Maybe I get a little selfish sometimes Why shouldn't I? " says that I am so fed up with your asking me for everything all the time. For example when your girl/boyfriend complains that you don't save the best part of food for her/him, maybe you'll be irritated too because you think you well deserve the treat. IMHO, "selfish" is kind of ironic here - now who's being selfish?

The chorus is the most revealing part. If I always say those unrealistic words to you, I'll be lying so I will never be myself. I love you, but it's very possible that I will let you down sometimes, and I can't promise that I will catch you everytime you fall. No man is perfect, and no relationship is perfect. If I spend all my time pleasing you, satisfying you and sacrificing for you, then who am I living for?

I've been in several relationships before and I know this feeling very well. I was dating a guy two years ago, but I was so busy then (I love my job very much) and I didn't have enough time for him. Several times I finished my work hastily just to meet him, but when I saw him, all he did was complaining. I just couldn't do it.

An absolutely amazing song. Young's voice made it very soft and special.
