Muse – Map of the Problematique Lyrics 9 years ago
I always think of terrorism when I hear this song; not about war on terror, is about the human aspect of terrorism, I mean.

Fear, and panic in the air
I want to be free
From desolation and despair
This part is about someone who lives in a country victim of lots terrorist attacks (think of Syria, Turkey, Afghanistan, Belgium or Nigeria) wanting peace.

And I feel like everything I saw
Is being swept away
When I refuse to let you go
When the international community enter to her country he is forced to let his believes go and watch as every part of her life shatters.

Life will flash before my eyes
So scattered almost
I want to touch the other side
Every time another bomb goes off in her country she questions herself wether she is gonna die or not fearing (but expecting) her death

And no one thinks they are to blame
Why can't we see
That when we bleed we bleed the same
This is the most powerful and climatic part of the song saying that everyone wants to "solve" the problem in a heavy militaristic way and seeing the "others" as aliens forgetting that when we bleed we bleed the same no matter if you're Muslim, catholic, Jew, black, white, Asian, redhead or whatever.
It's a shout out for all the people who had suffered because of terrorism

Muse – Map of Your Head Lyrics 9 years ago
I think is a little bit medical themed from the perspective of a desperate patient:

I'm sick of feeling my soul/ To people who'll never know / Just how purposeless and empty they've grown
As medicine is intended to be noble and lots of medical personnel works just for the money forgetting the patient.

Because their language confuses / Like computers refuse to understand / How I'm feeling today
Doctors (specially surgeons and psychiatrists) see the patients as things to be fixed and without feelings (like computers) so they try to be as distant and technical as possible

I'm freezing and losing my way / I don't need another map of your head
Well, this is a direct attack to psychiatrists, when people feels depressed and anxious doctors think they know everything but don't propose a realistic solution, in the best case they try to "fix you" with a bunch of medicine and points to something that they can see, wether in an MRI or in your past (the map of your head can means the verbal diarrhea that characterises the psychiatrists or the MRI scan)

I saw a liquid control that gives life to us all / I hit my head on it and woke up to know / That I was all alone / Wearing just socks and a phone / Someone screaming like the world might explode
The liquid control is an IV painkiller, so this part is about developing an addiction

Muse – Sing for Absolution Lyrics 9 years ago
This is a really creepy interpretation, but I think is right:
The song is about two lovers being victims of a chemical attack, the lips turning blue can be sign of asphyxiation, from a choking agent (or a paralysis inducing one) so that they can't kiss again because they're dying (or paralysed) and in his last moments he is worried about her "I only dream of you".
Then a flashback to the release of the WMD, the starlight being actually the missile trail.
They pray for absolution as a second opportunity to survive and sing to remain sane trough the whole thing.
Then they realise that the gas is spreading and they can't hide nor outrun it.
The last part, the climatic two sentences means simply death, but being together even through the worst case scenario they suffered, (wrongs unrectified means that they can't fix their mistakes because they're death, but the thing about exhumed souls means that they died together, in each other's arms and their remains will continue that way, as a message or because the place was rendered unhabitable)

Avicii – Wake Me Up Lyrics 9 years ago
This song is about living your own life without worrying for anyone's opinion as people wil always contradict each other, older people says that "I'm too young to understand, they say I'm caught up in a dream", that age brings wisdom, but they also say ignorance is bliss and "life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes".
After all we don't know when this is going to end, we can outlive our life expectancy, but also we can all die in this moment (an asteroid can even wipe us with one strike in any minute) so we better enjoy ourselves

Muse – Starlight Lyrics 9 years ago
The song is about a scientist falling in love, I mean:
Far away
The ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
His studies taking the main part of his life rendering the people who care if he lives or dies invisible.

The starlight
I will be chasing a starlight
Until the end of my life
The starlight means the knowledge and the goals of the research he has devoted his live

I don't know if it's worth it anymore
After falling in love he questions his choices and asks himself if there's something else apart from answering the questions surrender asks and breaking the universe's code

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
Pretty straightforward

My life
You electrify my life
He realises he is happier with her and that he is finally in love

Let's conspire to ignite
He is planning how to build a future with her and making the circumstances needed for that to happen, like a chemical reaction (after all he is a scientist) and looking for a trigger (igniter)

All the souls that would die just to feel alive
His research is being misused in the name of a "greater good" IE: a war (like developing a new weapon or releasing a pandemic)

Now I'll never let you go
If you promised not to fade away
Never fade away
He promises a live together, so even if the world collapses they will be alive and together

Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Finally he can enjoy his life with her (hopes and expectations) at the same time he can continue with his love to science and knowledge (black holes and revelations)

Muse – Time Is Running Out Lyrics 9 years ago
It's about stress and addiction as a way to "survive it"
I think I'm drowning Asphyxiated: the stress is accumulating and the singer can't see the end.
I want to break the spell That you've created: want to break free from his/her own mind.
Then he/she tries to reduce it by doing something that distracts his/her mind but traps him/her (a contradiction)

Muse – Apocalypse Please Lyrics 9 years ago
Humankind is a plague, and this song is about it, what we're doing to the planet and to ourselves; I explain:
Declare this an emergency: war, terrorism, mass shootings, violence, drugs and all the horrible things that humans do to other humans and that have media coverage as the most important issue
Spread a sense of urgency: global warming, pollution, deforestation, mass extinction, nuclear weapons, things that are threatening the whole planet and don't have great media coverage, is time to reveal the main problem.
Pull us through: political and economic issues.
The end of the world: more like the end of humans and the salvation of earth, from here the song is pleading for an apocalypse (in both senses, an end to humans and a revelation of a new world free from us) in whatever form, no matter if it's a pandemic, a war, an asteroid or a biblical Armageddon, something that proclaim the victory of nature over the plague and deletes our history in one stroke.
A brand new world, but one without us, that's with I like this song, I've always thought that nobody can save us from ourselves, we need a pandemic.

Muse – Mercy Lyrics 9 years ago
It's about assisted suicide, but this time to get rid of MENTAL illness, I mean, the song mentioned a pile of different mental illnesses and references to mental health:
Men in cloaks: depression (as they seems like dementors)
Ghosts and shadows: hallucinations (maybe from schizophrenia, maybe from drugs withdrawal)
Eat my soul: Cottard syndrome (as he/she seems to be death in life)
Absent gods: psychosis ("if you talk to God you're religious, if he talks back you're psychotic")
Silent tyranny: paranoia (thinks he/she is being followed, the silent tyranny is the NWO representing the conspiracy theories)
We're going under, hypnotized by another puppeteer: prescription drugs that are given to the patient trying to help him/her, but they are doing more harm than good (antidepressants, Ritalin, Aderall, sedative drugs)
And the awaited rescue is indeed the death, maybe the person is paralytic, sedated, drugged or simply afraid and so that, can't commit suicide.
Well, that's my theory

Muse – Dead Inside Lyrics 9 years ago
This song has lots of meanings, but I think the two that fits best are this:
Political: a CIA's drone pilot who has been trained to strike from a chair and detach from his/her emotions (kill by remote control... taught me to lie without a trace and to kill with no remorse) then realises the horrible things done and discovered he/she is as death as the CIA.
Emotional: a guy has a crush on a girl with several problems, tries to help her and know more about her and her troubles (unleash a million drones) but she has given up (dead inside) and he becomes obsessed with saving her from herself (you like to give an inch while I'm giving infinity... Only you can stop the pain) as she considered suicide (you're free to touch the sky while I'm crushed and pulverised). He realises that he can't help her as she needs professional help and he also surrender (because you need control now I'm the one who's letting go... I gave you everything I can't give you anymore now I've become just like you) so he now detach from his feelings and becomes kind of psychopathic in order to avoid depression (I'll control and hypnotize you've taught me to lie without a trace and to kill with no remorse on the outside i'm the greatest guy now I'm dead inside!)
