Beach House – All the Years Lyrics 9 years ago
I'm with all y'all on this. Best song. This song is located in the very center of the album, literally and figuratively. The whole album is about falling in love, and these lyrics are the most explicit-
"All my devotion, compelled by an ocean, of all the years to come"
This, and the heralding of "wedding bells" (track one) are also explicit in that the album is about marriage. Many of the songs on the album are deleriously happy and imply intimacy and togetherness. What a beautiful season this was for beach house.

Beach House – You Came to Me Lyrics 9 years ago
The best part is (ah, ah). So much of beach house sounds like a spooky incantation, they have a very classic, theatrical grip on melody. How can people who live in the modern world behave like such ghosts? It's amazing.

Beach House – House on the Hill Lyrics 9 years ago
Can't help but think this song means, "fuck you". A reaction to some kind of invasion. "You'd give anything(or worse, anyone)" implies desperation. "But I won't be there." Total rejection. You'd give anything to get to me again, but I won't be there this time.

Beach House – Auburn and Ivory Lyrics 9 years ago
Kind of silly, but I imagine it's about a cheerleader in high school. The school colors are auburn and ivory, as is her uniform. She is a ponytail'd cheerleader as are all the others, but she's secretly a deep-as-fuck writer with immense, turbulent feelings.

One of my favorite things about beach house is they will surprise you, mid-song, with a heart-pinningly simple lyric along with a elevating chord switch. "Come to me, and I'll tell you what's wrong." Dear God.

Also the cheerleader is secretly a witch.
