I personally think this song is about the mysterious "K" that she sings about on some of her earlier (and not that popular) albums. If you listen to "For K Part 1" she talks about a guy on death row who she loved and I really think she was/is hung up on him. There are other references to her loving a man who went to prison, such as in "TV in Black and White" (the whole song is her singing to a man in prison) and "Gangsta Boy" ("I don't care if you're going to prison, I wouldn't say I loved you if I didn't". I think a lot of her songs are about this "K" and he was executed and she is/was hung up on it. I certainly would be in her position. Anyway, specific references in this song are: "I wish I was dead/dead like you" "I'm scared you won't be waiting on the other side" (she's afraid maybe because he was a criminal he won't end up in heaven perhaps?) "Even though you're not here, won't move on" "all my friends tell me I should move on" (you're supposed to "move on" from someone's death and she doesn't want to) |

| @[carovillalta:12637] My thoughts exactly on this song. Though I was in a relationship much like the one in the song at the time when I found this song so maybe it's just my view of that relationship that drives my version of what the song means. | |
