| @clippy.hanger i would think, the person being a trans girl would make more sense, also, it would add more purpose to the "when you turned away, when you slammed the door, when you stole the car, drove towards mexico" line because she'd been kicked out/ran away, also i believe the same person is referenced in a spindle a darkness a fever and a necklace because of the opening, and also following the belief that yellow bird is a poetic term for soulmate/happiness (http://www.ask.com/world-view/yellow-bird-symbolize-8e9a9f64737776) he was in love with her, which would bring more sense and also help drive home with such an intense line, after having the loud powerful chorus, then going quiet, and revealing her love for her, then going back up in volume to the final chorus | |
