System of a Down – I-E-A-I-A-I-O Lyrics 9 years ago
@[Otheranother:12377] SOAD are definitely agents of sorts. They are one of the biggest protest music groups in our modern generation... If not THE biggest. I could see them putting something like that into their lyrics easily.

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 9 years ago
I have always seen this song portraying someone that is a junkie and can't get back on track no matter what.

"Wake up!"
- The day begins. Can't get the day started without shooting up some H.

"Grab a brush, put on makeup;
Hide the scars FROM the shakeup."
- She's putting on makeup to cover up either bruises she got in a fight the night before (the 'shaekup') during a drug-fueled rage OR covering up her needle marks on her arms.

"Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?"
- She couldn't find her keys. But there they were on the kitchen table. She never leaves them there.. She was too tucked up to remember though.

"Here you go create another fable."
- Someone may have asked her what she was doing last night or what the marks on her arm were or why she was losing so much weight. It's either lie or let them find out you're a junkie...

"You wanted to."
- This line seems to be slightly softer between the lines. Maybe indicating this is her speaking to herself OR her conscious speaking to her telling her that she had the choice to do this stuff and she did. Now she has to live with it.

"I don't think you trust,
In, my, self-righteous suicide."
- For those that know she has a problem, she's telling them that she's okay. Shes not going to overdose. She knows what she's doing. She'll be fine and she can quit any time. I think the lyricist put their own words in there as "self-righteous suicide" to describe the drug use... "Self-righteous" indicating that you are high and mighty about your drug use... Like you are above people only trying to help you. They're nosey and need to mind their own business. The "suicide" part is obviously saying that by doing these drugs you are slowly killing yourself.

"I, cry, when angels deserve to die."
- This seems to be from the perspective of the singer. It seems this girl was a nice girl at one point, since the describe her as angel. However, the stuff turned her. She probably is no where near the same person as before. She probably is ruining other people's lives because of her problem. And it's sad to say, but the quicker her life clock tick away, the better everyone else will be...

"Father, father, father, father!"
- Calling out to God (or religion) in a time of need over and over. This is the girl and maybe even her family. Calling out to God is a typical response when you get to a low point of addiction.

"Father into your hands, I commend my spirit."
- This phrase basically means that she wants God to take her into his care. She seems to be praying for a miracle. A lot of rehab uses Christianity and other religion to help get past addiction. This is why she would be calling to God.

"Father into your hands."
- Reiterating the last line showing how much she's praying for this miracle or how often she is.

"Why have you forsaken me,
In your eyes forsaken me,
In your thoughts forsaken me?"
- This is one phrase found in the Bible where Jesus, the Son of God, questions His almighty Father. He does this as God turns His head and allows His son to be crucified. This like shows the girl's self-righteousness. She probably relapsed and now blames God for not keeping her cravings away. Using these words, she's putting herself up on a pedestal along side Jesus Christ who Biblically was crucified and died for the sins of every human being on Earth.
She repeats the line three times, once saying "in your eyes" and the other is "in your thoughts". I think this is really just to reiterate her distrust in God.

"Trust in my self-righteous suicide.
I cry when angels deserve to die.
In my self-righteous suicide.
I cry when angels deserve to die."
- I see this as her turning back to her old ways and going until she finally dies. The last line fades out softly, making me believe that maybe she overdosed while telling everyone "it's okay, I'm okay, I've got this."

Yep, that's sure sad alright...
