For me, this song is about an on and off love affair. It's (really) over this time. The lover is so far away (unreachable) You're trying to get over it, but it still hurts, and you ask yourself why??? In death, there is a finality. There is no opportunity for change. We are alive, but continue to repeat the same dysfunctional pattrens. I still love him, and I imagine him feeling like I do, but that's just a fantasy. In reality, I know that he never cared and I projected a lot of my own feelings and character traits on to him. It's like mourning the loss of someone that never really existed. Of course, he did actually exist, but he wasn't the person that I thought he was, or that I wanted him to be. In the end, we were both disappointed. I'm sure that much is true. |

I hadn't heard this song in ages, but just the other night while I was doing laundry... "love is old love is new, love is... ? love is you" came to mind. I knew it was part of a Beatles song lyric. I Googled the rest of the lyrics and got emotional. For me, it was a message of hope.
Love never dies, or goes away. It's within us and outside of us... and we don't need a reason to love.
My dad listened to the Beatles when I was a kid. He played "Abby Road" and the "White" album quite a bit. Good times.. |

For me this song is about losing faith in God and love. The "girl" is stuck in her head, old pattrens and belief systems. Her concept of herself is based on what "mother" and others said. A middle aged woman, who's emotionally and sexually immature... The "girl" feels trapped in "Neverland." It's a place of limitations that seems very real to her. Part of her likes it there because it's familiar and safe. At the same time, it's her own personal Hell. She wishes that she didn't have to be alone there.
I woke up this morning, with this song in my head... "She can't find a lover, she'll fashion one." Strange... I haven't listened to IAMX in a long time.
