Yea it's definitely about a wife Who's lost her husband and is contemplating suicide. The husband is a ghost that can hear her but she can't hear him so in the first part she talks, he responds but she can't hear [I'm just simply expounding on a comment that was made earlier, it gave me Alot of insite but they still deserve the credit] Her "I don't like walking round this cold and empty house" the house is cold and empty cause the hubby is dead Him: "Then hold my hand I'll walk with you my dear" he's saying she should come join her in the afterlife, as holding hands Is a symbol of joining someone Her "stairs Creek, as I sleep it's keeping me awake" she's quite miserable Him "it's the house telling you to close your eyes" permanently, to kill her self Her "some days I can't even trust my self" she doesn't know if she's insane or not, she doesn't really know if he's in the after life or if after death there's nothing Him " it's killing me to see you this way" though he's already dead he's sad to see her this unhappy Her "cause though the truth may...." weather or not there's an after life, if she kills herself she'll finally be together with her husband, regardless of how she kills herself, at the very least her grave shall be besides his. Her "there's an old voice in my head that's holding me back" a part of her thinks she should forget about him and move on Him "well tell her that I miss our little talks" He's trying to convince her suicide is the right option by bringing up the good old days Her "Soon it will be over and buried with our past" she's saying if she dies that her voice holding her back will no longer be there Him "we used to play outside when we were young and full of life and full of love" (this is my favorite line, I like how he sings it) here he's still pressing her to join him, to relive the glory days Her "some days idk if I'm wrong or right" about the suicide Him "your mind is playing tricks on you my dear" You know the answer, you know you want to join me "Cause though the truth may vary.. " Cause though the truth about her being crazy or not may vary, this ship(reference to hades and death) will bring their bodies safe sore... In other words, they'll no longer be separated, they'll either both be dead or both together in the afterlife. BUT! then the husband warns her "Don't listen to a word i say, the screams all sound the same" meaning it's possible that she's just imagining things, and that there is no here after :( But she sings the chorus that even if there is no here after, they'll still both be together. Her..."you're gone gone..... Just let me go well meet again soon" this part is self explanatory if you've followed the rest of my explanation. But the last line "just let me go well meet again soon" she's saying stop haunting me, let me live my life, die naturally then you'll see me again. Her "Now wait wait for me, please hang around, I'll see you when I fall asleep" She's telling her husband to chill out, since they'll spend an eternity together he should let him enjoy her time on earth then eventually she'll see him when she died. |

The branch line is what got me so just bare with me He's itching on a photograph, he's disturbed by his past He's scratching on a thermostat, he's trying to change the mood of his house/family Giving up on looking back and letting go of what he has. Let us assume he's a young adult about 18 in a nice family of 5, it's time for him to branch out and start his own family, in order to do this he obviously must give up what he has already, his house, comfort etc, Feel the rain come down and you know now. As I was saying this song is representation of a family tree. Rain makes crops grow, so he e knowns now it's time for him to grow. "put the fire out you'll burn now" it means he shouldn't destroy his family tree, fire is the opposite of water, it destroyes instead of grows. From the way it's phrased it sounds like it's his mum telling him. Fire burns things to ashes, so he should stop burning his wood lol. Meaning he won't be young forever and needs to start a family soon and keep the tree growing. Also the older you get the less kids you can have. Also he could be a raging blaze but the mum is telling him to simmer down before he burns up all his energy and has none left to raise his kids. "ever wonder how you can see now" his parents are saying he's only alive because they settled down and had kids. "and this landing ground is so y'know " it's time for the Apple to fall from the tree. Time for him to plan his own seed and grown his own family. His waiting on his mum and dad, he's taking care of them, helping out around the house. Swinging on a branch that'll last. His family tree, he hopes his family tree name and lineage will last forever. Going up and falling back, he's tried climbing his family tree to see his roots and discover who he is via his grand parents, what kind of man should he be? What careers in his family did they choose? But he's falling back. Meaning he now needs to become a new man and starting his own family will teach him things he never knew about himself. The all while he was sleeping part means it all happened over night, he became an adult so quickly and his pressured with so many responsibilities Living now living last... He's the last born Living now and living large In conclusion, he's realized, it's time to leave his family BUT he's not yet ready to start his own, he's gonna live free for awhile. And like a tree slowly he shall grow and mature before starting his own.
