Guided by Voices – Drag Days Lyrics 1 year ago
It would seem to be about being true to yourself. Integrity. Conformity is a drag, etc. Am I wrong?

Cocteau Twins – Cherry-Coloured Funk Lyrics 4 years ago
Liz has never (afaik) released official lyrics. The ones printed here (for probably any CT song) will be incorrect. That said, like others have said the sound and the feeling are what matters with CT's music.

Wire – The 15th Lyrics 4 years ago
About a troubled or doomed relationship, like a lot of the other songs on the album seem to be about. Or maybe just someone trying to make sense of their feelings about someone, and perhaps overanalyzing it and driving themselves mad lol. Maybe I'm overanalyzing. I thought the title might've been a reference to the Ides of March, which would indicate a betrayal. The comments that said it is about "an idea, any idea" or "the commercialization of punk" I also thought were interesting.

Guided by Voices – Game Of Pricks Lyrics 8 years ago
[just my opinion]..while it could describe any assortment of "us and them"s that are cheating and lying to each other, i did get the impression it was about being in a band / music industry, etc. the band members, agent, manager, whatever are cheating each other on one hand, the record company is cheating them on the other. it's interesting to me in that...no matter how dishonest you are, you still expect others to be honest with you. human nature to put yourself first. good to have songs that shine a light on that ugliness.

Simple Minds – Glittering Prize Lyrics 9 years ago
The words to this joyful bliss-inducing tune seem centered around the desire to worship [a god, nature, a lover, whatever], yet doesn't filter out doubt ["can you never stop?" "could there ever be more than one?"] or the memory of what one enjoyed about their life before they were in love/worship ["remember the bright side of midnight" "attraction of fame"]. You could surely read a lot into some of the other lines if you wanted but that's the gist of it, to me. This song can take you places, and does it while being a bit vague, lol...kinda like the confusion that love/worship can cause.
