For me this song is almost too accurate. I relate to the girlfriends POV. It's about a mans partner struggling with long term mental health or addiction. He notices all the signs(spilled coffee smeared lipstick) being emotionally reactice(slamming doors) She's useing her go to coping tools(playing the same old song) Shes not always like this (she puts me up and puts me on) she won't tell him cause he doesn't struggle with the same issue there for wouldn't understand and ironically when your struggling thats when its hardest to open up to someone like that. All you can say is I'm having a bad day again. |

Given the tone of the album I think it's about non conformity. I think the point of the early contradictions is saying you can't judge me your assumption's won't hold true with me. ( I'm poor but I'm happy, I'm short but I'm healthy,I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed etc ) In the chorus She states that even if you have her wrong it's okay( what it all comes down to is that everything is gonna be fine, fine, fine)and even if she doesn't fully by into what she herself is doing its okay she's never truly commited/conforming (what it all comes down to is no ones got it quite figured out yet/ cause I've got one hand in her pocket and the other one giving a peace sign) |
