I don't think he's a "git" who dumped her. I think he actually loves her. Also as I'm a Greek it made me really happy that you are informed about greek mythology. Ok first of all I'd like to say that this song is one of the best I've ever heard and for some reason it makes me really emotional. In my opinion this is a song about a couple (maybe an elder one) and the wife probably suffers from a mental illness like schizophrenia or from alzheimer or even from cancer (most probably from alzheimer and I'll tell you why) That explains the lyrics "I dont like walking around this old and empty house" because she feels lost as she can't remember, "and some days I cant even trust myself" because she no longer knows who she is and "there's an old voice in my head that's holding me back" probably it means a memory. And then there is a guy who feels like "it's killing" him to see his loved one in this situation and he says they used to play outside when they were young to try and remind her the old good times. But it is also possible that the woman is schizoprenic because of the lyrics "the screams all sound the same" and "your mind is playing tricks on you my dear" Anyway we can't be totally certain what the creators of the song wanted to express and as the song says "the truth may vary". But we can be certain that these two people share a real powerful bond and that's beautiful. |
