I love the clip. He's always there, at the back of her life. Of course this isn't real - he's just there in her heart.
The song is about letting go without closure. She's telling him she loves him despite what she had to do to end it (causes so much mess and destruction). It was not about lack of love - it may have been about self-preservation. And whatever he was doing or whatever he was, couldn't change and she isn't asking him to change. She loves him as he is but it isn't working for her. It hurts. She walked. She can't go back again.
