I showed this to by boyfriend at the time in 2013 this song. Surprised this song doesn't have more. When you're in a relationship with someone that has been hurt, they seem distant. They won't let you get close & you know there is baggage that you want to help them. You love this person so unconditionally, you can't bare to see them struggle anymore. "When you try not to look at me Scared that I'll see you hurting" They won't let you in, they are guarded because they don't want you know them. to truly know them from the inside out. For that person feel vulnerable. "Nobody knows you better than I do I keep my promises, I'm fighting for you" You see through their wall then have up & when you say promises like "I love you" or "I'll never hurt you" or etc. that you mean it. You'll Be there for that person no matter what, you'll be there through the tears & whatever might come. Their pain is your pain because you love this person and to see them hurt, it hurts you in return. "You need love tough enough to count on So here I am" (By far my favorite line) That this person is going to be here through the ups and downs. That they are a for sure thing. |

They don't know each other anymore. Don't know whether to push forward and keep fighting dealing with the pain or to let things go. Either way they can't win "So sacrifice yourself, and let me have what's left. I know that I can find the fire in your eyes. I'm going all the way, get away, please." For that person to put that wall down that was created and start over. Whatever might be left to salvage the relationship. "You take the breath right out of me. You left a hole where my heart should be. You got to fight just to make it through, 'Cause I will be the death of you. This will be all over soon. Pour salt into the open wound." That person still has their heart and cant find a way to let go. So they fight whether internally or with each other to find a better way. But it doesn't work and just create more problems, creating death in ones heart. They keep bring up the past to pour salt into that wound. To reopen the problems that happened. "Is it over yet? Let me in." Asking if they would stop and start things over. To fix everything. "I'm waiting, I'm praying, realize, start hating." They are waiting & praying to make things right, but they realize they can't and it will only grow worse so they start to hate the situation or other person. For me, I was here in a toxic relationship that went like this. Things start to dissolve but they have your heart and no matter how much you fight for them they bring up past mistakes no matter how sorry you are or how you've changed. They bring up the mistakes and never move past it. Therefore the relationship never gets better. It just kills you inside. knowing this person you once knew, isnt the same person and it will never be the same. |
