In Flames – Clayman Lyrics 9 years ago
"Your self control makes me feel alone
I've tried confidence, had it for breakfast today"

-This means that the person is going through trouble in their life. Seeing someone else who has their life together, the troubled person feels alone because they feel like the one they see with their life controlled just couldn't understand what having no control of your life feels like. The only thing you can do in this situation of feeling you have no control is to be confident and constantly remind yourself of being confident. That is why he says that he had it for breakfast today, as in first thing he did when he woke up, he thought about trying to control his life with confidence.

"I've lost the perfection, a mess without words
(And) As the seasons change I'll continue to ignore
The image I project - me without me
The picture that I scanned is borrowed"

-He saw himself as a great person but with time he ignored the great person he actually saw himself being and steered off that track in his life. That is why he says the "the image I project is me without me." Because he feels that the great person he saw himself as is him, but in reality it is not him because he is changing now. When he says the picture that I scanned is borrowed, it means that the way he saw himself was only temporary and will no longer be.

After the education you stopped making sense to me
Seems to me that it's all the same, time and time again
Slowly, all that I believed in, turning into a lie
To aim and miss, my supernatural art
Spending too much time with myself
Trying to explain who I am

-We go to school, we get an education and we are shaped by what we learn in life. The same routine over but we are convinced to believe that we can be or are someone who we really aren't. It feels like we are being lied to in a way since we aren't convinced to think for ourselves but instead forced to learn certain things and believe it is true for everyone. My supernatural art refers to a skill you have in which you can make a difference if you apply it, but in order to do that, you need to really find out who you are first instead of being convinced of what you aren't by those around you.

How come it's possible
I wish there was a way
(Suddenly) I feel so invincible
I'm the sculpture made out of clay

-You come to a realization that society changes and molds you based on norms and other factors, so knowing this, you feel like you have more power to control who you actually are. That is why he says "I feel so invincible," because of what he knows. "I'm the sculpture made of clay" means he is moldable and changable. He is able to change himself and feels like he was being changed and molded through life already.

I need someone to break the silence
Before it all falls apart
I need something to cling onto
Before I break you in parts

-He is talking to himself in a different perspective. He is talking to the dangerous-self. He needs someone to be there to help him, but he actually means his good-self. He says he needs something to cling onto because he is trying to keep himself from falling apart in life. Before I break you in parts means that he is letting go of his past self and that part of him will die as the new him hangs on to his new-self.

So afraid of what you may think
And all the plastic people that surrounds me
I have to find the path to where it all begins
To teach the world my supernatural art

-Sometime, we are afraid of what we may think of ourselves and we are molded and shaped by the fake (plastic people) society, media, schools, etc, that don't allow us to think for ourselves. Since he now knows this and feels confident after finding his new-self in this emotional journey he went through, he is ready to start a new life. This way, he is able to use his unique skills (supernatural art) to make a difference for the world. Clayman refers to himself who was molded and changed constantly by those around him, but he learns how to mold himself instead. This song is truly amazing work of art that one really needs to put in their perspective. It is all about change. That is the whole point of clay, you change it into what you want but either you're the creator, or someone else is.
