What it's about? I think it's the divine beings speaking to exiled Adam and the children of men for all generations to follow... and also can be seen almost identically from the opposite viewpoint: Mankind singing to the divine beings by reason of their abandon since the fall. Also can be interpreted as the Prophets to the rest of mankind. But overall, it makes one fine glorious gay anthem. |

This song plays out exactly like the showdown in the Biblical text of 1 Kings 18 where the Prophet Elijah and the Prophets of Baal gather atop Mount Carmel and each offers their sacrifice to see which one is accepted. The interpretation is from the viewpoint of the Prophets of Baal, succumbing to defeat but defending their error, even beyond death. There are so many precise references to that particular chapter and account. |
