I honestly think that this is a very simple song to understand. It's basically how he tried to change to fit in "just another trying hard to fit right in" and changed so much he forgot himself. It seems like his different behavior may have had a bad impact on a relationship so he's asking "if I recover will you take me back again?" He is metaphorically speaking when he says "I don't recognize these eyes, I don't recognize these hands" he's saying that though it seems like a part of him, they aren't his. He mentions that "the photographs remind me of who I used to be" which means a time period ago, he was himself and he can see that in the pictures. He is saying that if he could go back to when he knew himself, he may be able to change, but that isn't possible. (And obviously that's what makes it a problem.) Hope I helped. |
