My own take on it is that it's the loss of childhood innocence, idealism and happiness. The 'Blackstar' is the adult self taking that away I see the 'solitary candle' as the remaining flicker of childhood innocence and optimism. Pretty sure that wasn't Bowie's take on it, but it's how I view it. |
