My favorite verses of this song is: "when you care and you cannot feel and you know that it's for real so you leave me on my own to live the pattern of my life" Personally, I think that he is saying that the person (whoever he's talking about) cares about him, but cannot feel it at an emotional level for some reason (it could be due to depression for example), there's a lack of feeling, some kind of numbness that makes the person choose not to be with him, even though she/he cares. So he's left alone to "live the pattern of my life". I identify myself a lot with this part, because lately (years) even though I may care about someone, I cannot feel, so I can't even handle the energy that it takes to talk with this person, so I just avoid... which can leave this person sad. |
