I feel like the song is about a guy meeting this girl and developing a relationship with her but then life go in the way and the girl broke it off bc it was too difficult. The guy goes away for a tour maybe and hopes to come back and have more time with her; "maybe this will be our year". But she has moved on. He despises her stubbornness in her decision and that's why he says he despises her for acting like this |
