What a brilliant song. It's absolutely amazing, addictive, and I've been listening to it on repeat the last few days.Seriously, this just might be the best song ever. I'll tell you why, it has all three things going for it: great lyrics, composition, AND video. *if you haven't seen the video, go watch it. The lyrics were beautifully written to capture the end of Robert Capa's life. The lyrics give you the visual impact of how he died, but also, how he reunited with an old lover (Taro) who passed years before doing the same thing (photographing war). She was only 27, and he was 40 when he passed. If you research further into their lives, they lived in such a chaotic, yet amazing time when the wars were going on and yet they were able to bond over their passion for photography and to change the world with it. I find it amazing, because Robert went on to have other lovers throughout his life and was a complex man. He never married, never had kids, and never settled down. Sometimes you have lovers throughout your life, and it doesn't last. It doesn't mean their impact was any less. The song lyrics portray their story- the depth, sadness, and undeniable brilliance in the simple act of love. |

| Aqualung – Strange And Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You) Lyrics

Beautiful love song. It's about having a huge crush on someone, possibly you know them, or you've never met but you like them from afar. The other person doesn't know that you love them. They don't know that you're perfect for them, but you do.
There's a dilemma to this song. The writer is in love, but is uncertain how to go about it. They're deciding on how to make that person know, and/or how to make that person fall in love with them as well. They dream of putting them "under a spell" |

I assumed this song was about a LGBT relationship. Since Bowie liked to play around with gender roles, I imagined this was about a man falling in love with a trans woman. I relate to myself since I am a woman, in love with another woman. It portrays the tragedy of unforbidden love, and wanting to be in love, out and proud for the world to see "just for one day." |

It sounds like he's remembering an old friend, and recounting all the memories and feelings he had with this person. It seems like they did some drugs, or were maybe in their teen years and shared a bunch of "coming to age" experiences. He's remembering how it felt with a melancholy fondness. |

I a;ways thought this was about 2 men who had a secret relationship. One of them (or both) is outwardly "straight" and is seeing a woman. The other man watches him go and be with this woman, and is still in love with him. He's left with all these bitter, hurt feelings realizing the two of them could never be together. |

I always thought this was about loving a man with a cocaine problem. "Do you sleep? Do you eat?" Signs of a drug addict. She's realized there's no changing him because there's deeper issues there. She's given up on him.
It could also be about just loving a jerk, and realizing he's a bad person, and it's time to move on. |

It's about a woman who really liked a guy, and wanted it to work out but it didn't. He might have tried to hurt or break her, or just have been too immature for it to work. She wanted it to end peacefully, but it sounds like it just couldn't. She's determined to bounce back from this and to just live her life. She refuses to let this break her. |

They broke up, and he's staying in a hotel trying to figure out if he should get back with her. He appears to have let himself go, to the point where no one wants to ride the elevator with him. He might have had a nervous breakdown. Still, although he's let himself go and done some soul searching, the last line reveals his decision. He decided he doesn't want to get back with her. |
