I think the song deals with the separation of the two as a result of their having to live on the run and go their separate ways while doing so. "I helped her out of a jam I guess but I used a little too much force. We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out west " is the actions of people on the run. They had to separate and assume different lives, which in the end were unable to replace what they had given up in order to evade capture. |
