This is a Bowie song taken from the Ziggy Stardust story which started with Starman. This is easily verified online. One thing always struck me as being quintessentially British: the reference to stealing clothes from M&S is telling because the shop was a place which sold good quality but stodgy clothing. It was the place where your mum and granny would buy their underwear and dresses. Therefore a deeply uncool place to steal clothes... and I may have misheard the words but I always thought it was "When he" rather than "Wendy". Whatever. |
