Failure – The Nurse Who Loved Me Lyrics 9 years ago
"....to the rough topography... to the shrinking in your head..."
falling out on dope, realizing subconsciously that youre dying

".to the apples on the ground...you sneezed them out by sleeping.."
the apples are symbolic of the apple of the serpent, interpreted by me as the evils of addiction. when you died, you were reborn from your addiction

"to everything youve left behind..."
when you enter recovery, you admit that its your identity. youre an addict, and you must leave the entire lifestyle behind. it becomes who you are even though you literally cant touch it without going back.

the chorus is easier to me. in my experience, the caring soul who treats you becomes an object of affection. withdrawing addicts are given doses of methadone or suboxone to wean them off so they dont feel like dying. of course, you look at them like they are the best thing that has happened to you

the outro, relapse
