| Placebo – Song To Say Goodbye Lyrics | 7 years ago |

I've put an old article extract at the end where he explains why he wrote this song. In a few lines, he's talking to himself. How he was pure before, how he's kinda broken now, and how he's trying his best (get rid of what he has become) in the memory of his former self. "The theme of Song To Say Goodbye is keeping only the best aspects of your life. It's the first track I wrote in India. I went there for a lot of reasons, one of them being to try and change my lifestyle. I wanted to make me understand that I should not become a rock'n'roll cliché and that the world doesn't need another dead rock star. I've written it as a letter to myself." source http://traductionsetparoles.over-blog.com/article-15919042.html |

| Starset – Starlight Lyrics | 8 years ago |

This song is based on the fact everything created is from matter as old as the universe, and even when something dies, the particles remain. Thus an human being or whatever he is talking about in this song, is composed of this primeval matter which is basically stardust. Fits the band name perfectly tho. He assumes even if him nor the person he loves die, their particles / essence remain somewhere in space, and eventually forming another life form sooner or later. He call that essence the starlight. He's ready to travel the entire universe to find particles from his loved one whatever their new form is. This is far from rational but the poetry in this theme catches me so hard. This song would fit really well in some movies, especially Cloud Atlas. |

| Highly Suspect – Lydia Lyrics | 8 years ago |

I higly agree with supreme83's analyze. I would simply add an additional possibility that kinda makes sense too and little details. Sharks can't resist the call of blood. Nice metaphor for a drug addict. So ok he's a goddamn junkie. No one falls in love with drug addicts. But this girl did. She is the girl able to talk to the shark. But why is he saying she could'nt swim ? Well, I'm adding the possibility that she died. What's worse is all the coke = Again they're addicted, but why is it worse ? The ice that numbs my throat if only for the night = He can't breathe already, he's doing drugs all night. My muscles will contract, your bones will crack = Description of the effects of overdose (scientist source : Osteomyelitis, or bone infection, has been linked to intravenous drug abuse) He's clearly saying they are facing different consequences from their drug addiction. It's just a fact cause I am here to win this fight = They are both on overdose and trying not to die at the moment. I pick up a gun, aim for the sun, and shoot = 3 complementary meanings. 1 He blacks out while his girlfriends dies. 2 He kinda killed his girlfriend, she was his sun, his hope. 3 He killed the fake sun, which was the matrix he lived in. It kinda killed itself tho, the hard truth of seeing his girlfriend dying, which was impossible to him, brought him back to reality. Now we can even better explain the other chorus I've seen better days So unafraid in my youth = This refers to the feeling of invulnerability we can feel being young, like it's impossible to die or have relatives who die. But after the truth stroke, these careless, naive times are gone forever. He realized people he love can die, and that himself can die. "I can't breathe much less believe the truth" = He can't breathe has 2 meanings. 1 he went overdose with his girlfriend. When this happens your muscles contracts and you feel like you can't breath. You actually can't breathe for a while. In the end he won the fight, but she died 2 He went back to reality. No more drugs. He's no longer a shark and has to live out of his matrix. He feels like a fish out of water. And it's fucking hard to breathe according to that, plus the weigh of his guilt. |
