Okay,so i thought of all this yesterday.I was comparing this song to some of my own memories and i came up with a theory. You can clearly see that this song is about being in a relationship with someone and you two are fighting,all the time,but you still love each other. Let's see it as a relationship between Oli and a girl. Oli is telling her that if they still love each other they can make it. She doesn't believe it. This song is actually a conversation,except from a part of the chorus. "Every second's soaked in sadness Every weekend is a war And I'm drowning in the déjà vu We've seen it all before" Describes their relationship and how things are Then,the conversation starts Oli:I don't wanna do this by myself,I don't wanna live like a broken record (probably reffering to his drug addiction) Her:I've heard these lines a thousand times and I've seen it all before Oli:Are we close enough? Her:There is something I must confide,I think we've lost our touch,There's no sparkle in those eyes Oli:What an awful mess i've made Her:There is nothing left to say *skipping the chorus* The "nothing in the air" lyric makes me think of the "love is in the air" phrase.Probably saying that the love between them is going away. Then Oli apologizes for something he has done. Oli:I'm sorry love Her:It's not enough He already said sorry lots of times Oli:We shouldn't feel the love so painfully,it hurts right to the touch Her:I know it stings,i know this cuts and i wish i could agree with you Oli:But this love... Her:It's not enough.It's not enough. Oli:It's not enough... (Spontaneously repeats it,maybe he whispers it if u imagine the conversation) Or she says it for the third time,so he can understand it and end this. I hope you liked my theory. |
