It's about needing to be closer with someone so you can have your closure. That might sound weird, but it makes perfect sense to me. I wouldn't want to let someone go without getting to know them completely, especially if I care about them. If I don't get close to the person & I walk away from the relationship, I might be left regretting or wondering what might have been. That's why it makes sense to get close with the person before leaving them so you can understand why this person isn't the one for you, and then you can push them out of your life and mind without any regrets. I couldn't just get up and walk away from the guy (who I knew wasn't the one for me) because deep down, I still liked him. The more we talked and got closer, I was able to see him for what he was, and it was enough to for me to "push" him out of my life. Sometimes you need to get closer so you can see the truth & then walk away when you fully understand that the truth was just bad news. He was bad news. |
